CHEMISTRY

“He has a great personality,” said her brother Bart.

Twenty pounds overweight with no prospects, Denise agreed to a blind date.

Grant was a lulu—kinky orange hair and squinted eyes behind thick horn-rim glasses.

He fidgeted and checked his watch. “We ordered dinner an hour ago.”

“Yeah, I’m wasting away to a ton.”

“Stop it. You’re just right.”

Denise’s cheeks warmed. “Really?”

“And pretty.”

She relaxed. They chatted away like two old friends until their orders came.

“Filet of dinosaur.” She skewered her steak. “Yum.”

He flashed a dazzling smile. “Bart didn’t lie. You do have a great personality.”

  • Dear Rochelle,

This was lovely. Reminds me of my friend and her late husband. When they met, they both thought – nope. She’s too fat; he’s too old and bent over. Their personalities went way a long way 😉

Shalom and here’s to great personalities leading to love!

      • Kale is good cooked as one of the layers in a lasagna-like pasta dish to replace spinach. … 😉
As for svelte bodies … some of us are doomed to be bony so little kids accuse us of “not being comfy” to lean against. … I think expanding and softening aren’t bad things, in the whole … 😉
I think of it as an analogy to one’s heart, of sorts, even if (alas) there are those whose body rushes to expand well ahead of their heart or mind … 😉
        LOL

  • Am I the only one replied to the story with an irreppressible “jerk!” Directed at Bart? Seeing the situation from the point of view of the overweight girl with a frail ego, learning that someone has recommended you for a partner solely because of your personality can easily be interpreted as further insult.
