THERE IS LOVE

The organist played Paul Stookey’s “Wedding Song.”

Denise strolled toward Grant holding her father’s arm. Her round face shone. Grant’s heart raced. Why would such a beautiful woman choose him?

His best man Bart elbowed him. “Here comes the wide-track bride.”

“If you think so little of her, why’d you set us up?”

“She’s my sister. I felt sorry for her.”

Grant remembered how nervous he’d been until their fateful blind date when her periwinkle eyes and infectious laughter put him at ease.

He elbowed Bart. “Make one more wisecrack about my lovely wife and you’ll be my toothless brother-in-law.”

  • I read them in the wrong order but figured it out. It does sound like the banter of siblings and friends – even if Denise was thin and gorgeous, Bart would say the same and Grant would answer him the same… Great song.

  • Dear Rochelle,

Perfect part 2 and yes, it does stand alone.
Methinks Bart best leave his sister comments to when his newly minted brother-in-law is not in the vicinity…

    Shalom and lotsa love!

  • Three variations on a theme – but all well done. A couple of years ago, there was a pop song titled, “She loves me for me.” 😯 Are Generation X, Y, and Z so self-involved that they have to sing about doing what’s only right?
