A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.
These word prompts seem to dredge up memories for me. Not sure why.
STALEMATE
Midnight rendezvous, filled with frustration and weeping defined our relationship in the beginning.
Weeks turned into years. I despaired of ever winning an argument, so skilled was he at manipulation. I couldn’t deny those deep-brown eyes. They’d captured my heart and held me captive.
Finally, I delivered an ultimatum to my beloved adversary. “Pick up your toys or no Sesame Street!”

Those brown eyes still hold me captive. 😉
Awwww. Melts the heart.
God bless.

Great one M’luv. No more Sesame Street. That should do it. Lol. But not for long. His intelligence took over so very young.

No one could argue his case quite like that little one. He does it quite well still as a man. I used to tell him he should be a lawyer when he grew up. He was and still is scary brilliant. Thank you, m’luv.

Awwww! I love this! And … I can see how he’d hold you captive with a mere look — he’s got your eyes 🙂

Na’am Y’karah,
A neighbor of my parents once told me how she’d seen Shannon in the story when he was quite young. He was in the toy aisle without anyone around. She asked him if his mother’s name was Rochelle. When he nodded she said, “Don’t you have a father.” 😀 Those eyes still hold me captive. Thank you.

Dear Rochelle,
Love the misdirect! And they can do that, can’t they? Our children, we love them so but man, can they push our buttons.
Lotsa love

Dear Dale,
Oh yeah, do they ever know how and what buttons to push. Glad you enjoyed my misdirect. 😉 It is a lifelong love affair, isn’t it? Thank you.

Dear D,.
The fact that the boy made it to manhood says it turned out well in the end. And his room is no longer my concern. 😉 His wife can worry about it. Actually I’m quite proud of the man he’s become. Thank you.

Nicely done Rochelle! Your son is very handsome. We have four and some times I was pulling on my hair when Mike came home – I’d go Ubba Ubba Ubba ! He would say “That kind of day? Sorry!” He would be especially helpful that night. BUT, IT WAS A BLAST!

Dear Nan,
The only reason we didn’t have four sons is because we stopped at three. 😉 I remember those days with a mixture of fondness and relief that they’re grown. We did have some great times. 😀 Thank you.
Shalom,
Rochelle
