WEEKEND WRITING PROMPT – HAVEN

Published October 5, 2019 by rochellewisoff

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s comment section.

I can’t help myself. To me this is the ultimate therapy. My mental health time. 😉 No apologies for my recurring theme.

FREESTYLE

My happy spot

Solace and solitude

A place to connect with my inner mermaid child

Next best thing to love

A 25-foot concrete trench

Filled with chlorinated water

My liquid haven.

  • Dear Rochelle,

Don’t you dare ever apologize for what you write! (I know, I know, you said no apologies, still…)

This is wonderful. And how sweet of you to include your fabulous watercolours?

Shalom and lotsa love and laps,

    Dale

    • Na’ama Y’karah,

Between you and Dale, I’ve been served with “No apology” papers. 😉 I’ve been called half-fish by more than one person. I accept the title with wave my fins in joy. If I could have gills surgically implanted I would. Thank you for the laps and love.

      Shalom,

      Rochelle

      • 🙂 Yep, Dale and me are in cahoots on the serving you no apology papers. Even without discussing it ahead of time, we KNEW you had to be ‘served’ … 😉
Here’s to part-fish people. In my youth I’ve been told I was half-monkey (for climbing up anything climbable, whether it was meant to be climbed or not … ) 😉 My body is a bit less capable of those stunts these days, but the soul-memories remain – I still WANT to climb up everything climbable, whether it is meant to be climbed or not … 😉
So, I hear ya on the gill-situation.
        🙂

    • Dear D.,

I realize that not everyone is a mermaid. In fact, some are afraid of water. Imagine that. 😉 Many people love skydiving or ziplining. I’ve no desire to do either. I am terrified of heights, particularly in open space. Thank you for your sweet comments.

      Shalom,

      Rochelle

  • I know very well where your “haven” is. I’ve seen it from warm Caribbean sands as you slowly become a small dot in the gentle waves. Me…..I thoroughly enjoy the warm beach and cold refreshment from my vantage point. And yes, although I spent 28 years in the Navy, I do indeed swim like a rock. It does not deter my love of the oceans that I have seen all over the world. Our Havens are similar but different. Lol. Good job.
