A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.
Although it doesn’t always, my title does factor into my word count this week.
LONGEVITY
“He’s too wild. She’s only 18 and he’s 25. I give it six months.” My mother told her friends. To me she repeated, “If things don’t work out you still have a bed here.”
The day I announced my first pregnancy her invitations changed to, “You made your bed, now you can lie in it.”
48 years, three sons and two granddaughters later, I still wake up in my bed next to my wild man.
Hi Rochelle! Beautiful take. You both look so nice together. Fit and fine. Best wishes for the 48th anniversary.

Hello Indira! So good to hear from you. As I’m sure you know, no marriage is without its own set of challenges. But after 48 years, why stop now? Thank you so much for the wishes.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Hey, who says I’m a wild man? We have indeed been on a journey together and it’s been an interesting one for sure. Good times and bad times and all those in between have made our ongoing journey one filled with memories worthy of a movie. AND, I wouldn’t want to travel it with anyone else. Not sure where the years have all gone as it seems in a flash. We have many more to go and more adventures to discover. Now, who was it that said I was wild? I’ll have to have a talk with them about that! Lol. Good job M’luv. Here’s to continuing the longevity, together. It’s somewhat strange that we are communicating about this this morning as we are 2-1/2 hours apart.

Dear Jan,
Where did all those years go? As for who said you were wild? Hm. I could make a list starting with your sister, your brothers, my parents, your parents, your best friends. Shall I continue? fortunately we weathered those early times of turmoil, didn’t we? We’re still upright and reasonably good health. Happy 48th, m’luv.

Dear Rochelle,
A perfect and lovely take on this word. I was gonna tease about the waking up next to each other… but I held back 😉
Shalom and lotsa love and to many more years of wild,

Beautiful Longevity indeed.
I was married 29.5 years and together for 34.5. None of which is left lightly. Now happily joined by the husband that fits like a clasp on an antiqued necklace. Carried along with, love, respect and good humour. The only sadness is that we may not have the opportunity to have been married as long. Unless we were both here together when I am 83 and the husband 86. But we will go for it with gusto .
I do believe that is 76!

Isn’t that what makes a love connection … being the other puzzle piece to that person?
Viva La’Mour!!! You guys look wonderful together and … gosh … where are you going to find someone who will make you smile for 48 years?

Querida Isadora,
I can’t believe it’s been 48 years either. It doesn’t seem that long. Then, other times it seems an eternity. 😉 Gracias para sus palabras amables, mi amiga.
Shalom y abrazos,
Rochelle

LOLOL … yes, there is a surreal feeling if you look the the number (me:54) but in all the decades there was change. Sometimes on your part; sometimes on his. When one marries young (me:18) the growth we have is shared by that partner. The difficult times as difficult as they might be bond a couple to the most important reason they married to begin with … LOVE … Hearts to Hearts

A delightful little piece Rochelle. Forty-eight years? Surely you’re not old enough! I managed 21 years, though I have to admit it was actually 3 X 7 years! I’m living proof of the seven-year itch. I did okay through – three kids, and then four grandkids age 1 to 20.

Dear Keith,
I once heard Noel Harrison say he’d been married for 42 years…to three different women. Yes…48 years to the same person. 😉 Thank you.

Beautiful, Rochelle. 🙂
I have been married for 22 years to my childhood sweetheart whom I met at 17 years when he was 19. Hoping to make 48 years together though it has not been easy. But like they say nothing good comes easy. 🙂
Enjoy your love together for more wonderful years. 🙂
