A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.
DAUGHTER-IN-LOVE
Art nights. Sometimes the boys and I painted with melted crayons. Other times we’d make things out of modeling clay you harden in the oven.
One of my attempts remained intact until my youngest son brought home his fiancé to meet us. Despite her profuse apologies for knocking him off a shelf, I assured her it was nothing to lose her head over.
I rather like him this way, don’t you?
Oh dear, at least it’s a story you can look back on and laugh.

Dear Carol,
The statue has sentimental value and twice as much since he lost his head. 😉 Thank you for reading and commenting.

Every time i see this I think of how you would say “If you make a mistake. Make it looked planned”. Knowing you intimately, I would think you probably designed it this way. Lol. Good story.

Dear Jan,
Intimately? You know me intimately? 😉 and I have Mrs. Spears to thank for the philosophy. She was a guiding light in my life. 😀 Thank you, m’luv.

Dear Rochelle,
I love how you wrote this without using the prompt word! I haven’t dared yet 😉 This is priceless and such a fun story to have in your book of family stories.
Shalom and lotsa artistic love,
Dale

Dear Dale,
Boy is my face red! I didn’t realize in the snipping and trimming to get this down to 71 words, I actually cut the word ‘sculpture’ out. Didn’t realize I did that until I saw your comment. I suppose I could claim ingenuity and creativity but it’s too funny not to be honest. Perhaps when the stories come this quickly I should slow down while editing. 😉 Glad it worked in any event. Thanks. 😀
Shalom and lotsa creative hugs,
Rochelle

It doesn’t feel like you cut it! Others do this challenge without using the word per se!
And yes. Do claim It!

Dear D.
Thank you to both. My son who married the girl who broke my statue, deemed it creepy. 😉 Everyone’s a critic.

Well then, I hope this heralded many heads-on-chests-in-satisfied-rest for the both of them … 🙂
Beautiful figurine, this one, with head on or off shoulders … 🙂

Na’ama Y’karah,
I’ve never known a more happily married couple. They’re so good for each other. As a mother I couldn’t have handpicked a better match for my son. So my little headless sculpture is a sweet (maybe a little weird) reminder. 😉 Thank you.
