A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.
Counting on my fingers, to make sure I had the right number of syllables…I give you Haiku
Flower petals fade
Shriveling blossoms will fall
The artist preserves.
(Realizes she has seven words left over.)
Not sure which I like more—your painting or your haiku. Both are beautiful! ❤️

Nice painting. And you did it so fast. One minute I see a pencil sketch, I turn around and it’s finished. Quit hogging all the talent. The Haiku says it all. Artists keep on.

If you had said ‘ensure’ instead of ‘make sure’, m’lady, your intro would have had 17 words!
Cool haiku.

Dear Dale,
Sneaky? Moi? I was happy with my haiku before realizing the count of the week was 17 and not 10. Oy vey. What’s a person to do? 😉 …add a punchline, of course. Thank you.
Shalom and lotsa violet hugs,
Rochelle

The haiku, painting and the after note are superb, Rochelle. I loved the after note, splendid idea to fill in the word deficit. 🙂

ROCHELLE! I am shocked. It’s 17 Words not syllables. You have always have been a rebel I think, but the haiku is nice, you did paint a pretty picture, and this is so clever, maybe Sammi won’t notice.

TED!
No need to be shocked. There are 17 words. The parenthetical line after the haiku are the 7 words to meet the count. I’m shocked you didn’t catch it. So I hope Sammi does notice. 😉 Glad you liked the haiku and the picture. Thank you.

Dear Russell,
I’m glad we got that settled. 😉 Glad you enjoyed, Shrawley, my friend. 😀 (You’re not the only one to mix up names in this group. I’ve done it more than a few times. To confuse me with Dale, I’ll take as a compliment.)

Yeah I ws wishing for seventeen syllables, not words, for a haiku, but then another inspiration struck when I wrote mine. Nicely done.
