A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.
This seems to be a recurring theme for me. In fourth grade my teacher nicknamed me “Messy Bessy.” My mother kept my bedroom door shut. I envy those neat-nicks who have a place for everything and everything in its place.
Is it the artist in me?
Or is it the writer?
Organization
Mission Impossible.
Try as I might I can’t line up all my ducks
They scatter in all directions
Can this situation be rectified?
Rochelle,
Why “rectify” what is clearly creative clutter, the oil to your wheels of ingenuity? Love the decorative skeletal touch, by the way 💀😀

Dora

Dear Dora,
Glad you like my little buddy. 😉 It is my spot. When we have company it’s the one place that does NOT get cleaned. Thank you.

Rochelle,
This poem is really relatable. As an aspiring author and amateur artist, this hit hard 🙂

Dear D.W.
Many times I’ve gotten “organized” only to fall back into my slovenly ways. I raise my coffee cup to you. L’chaim!

Ah, yes, I’ve there so many times. “Organized mess” is the best to our conditions I guess?

True story. 😀

Your life. Your house. Your mess.
As long as you keep fire-exits clear, I figure your okay.
🙂
(and anyway, what some call ‘a mess’ we can call ‘creative organization’)

Na’ama Y’karah,
If you haven’t already seen this, when my cousin Kent did this promo video he had to scan my office. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNlseos1NMY “Creative Organization”. Yeah. I like it. ❤ 😀 Thank you, haverah shelee.

I get it, Rochelle. I’m not naturally neat, though I know where everything is! Now, though, I have to make a conscious effort to keep my neat-nick husband happy, or at least not too unhappy! :-()

Dear Dr. Crystal,
My husband is more organized than I. Although I’d say, in many ways, his environment is as cluttered as mine. Fortunately, we both individual places to keep our disorders separate. 😉 Thank you for your understanding.

Dear Dale,
There’s a saying I used to keep on my wall and should reprint it. “Those who are proud of keeping an immaculate desk will never know the joy of finding something they thought was irretrievably lost.” That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😉
Thank you for braving my clutter.
Shalom and lotsa creative hugs,

Dear Disorganized Rochelle,
No. Some artists are quite anal and meticulously organized. My Drawing teacher today is such. I should have known when a t-square ruler was required equipment. I’m not an architect for Pete’s sake.
Peace,
Bill

Dear Bill,
Your drawing teacher sounds like a must to avoid. 😉 There are times I’ve used a ruler. While i’m somewhat impressionistic in my painting, some things (like the typewriter) can’t be fudged.
Actually I have a friend who’s a brilliant artist who is disgustingly organized. He says he can’t create in a messy environment.
I could create in an organized environment, but it seems like cleaning takes too much time that could be used for art.
Thank you for braving my disorganization to leave a comment. 😉

Rochelle

Hey Rochelle,
Oh, she will be fine. I am the joking and teasing type. Besides, she may be a rule maker, but she is also a rule breaker. I need to loosen up my art work. We’ll see.
Peace, Bill

Embrace the chaos, m’lady, it clearly works for you.

Dear CE,
I’ve been told that in the past. At this stage of the game, I might as well embrace it. 😉 Thank you for the encouraging words.

It just gives you fodder for creativity. Oh, look what I just found right under my nose. I should paint it or write a story about it. Wrong? I think not.
