Hi there. I’m Rochelle Wisoff-Fields, an award-winning artist and author with numerous published short stories and several books to my name. Sounds impressive, no?
A little more about me:
I studied painting and lithography at the Kansas City Art Institute. After two years of disputing what was art and what wasn’t with my instructors, I decided to have a baby and dropped out. I spent much of the summer of 1973 fighting morning sickness while working as a caricature/portrait artist at the newly opened theme park, Worlds of Fun.
Although I have always enjoyed working in pencil or pen and ink, my preferred media is watercolor. There’s a freedom to it that I never found with any other media. Painting is an intuitive adventure where I allow my brush to lead.

A few years back I was stricken with a passion for writing. Apparently I had something to say. 😉 My books include my historical trilogy, Please Say Kaddish for Me, From Silt and Ashes, and As One Must, One Can. These are loosely based on my grandparents who were Russian Jewish immigrants who settled in the Midwest at the turn of the twentieth century. My short stories have been published in several anthologies. More of my illustrations are included in my own short story anthology This, That and Sometimes the Other.
I had the privilege of designing and painting most of my book covers and I created illustrations for A Stone for the Journey, the coffee table companion volume to my historical trilogy.

My latest novel-to-be, Last Dance with Annie is the story of a middle-aged military wife battling anorexia nervosa. It is a fictional account of the author’s own struggle. It is soon to be released by Ozark Hollow Press.
I live in Belton, MIssouri with my husband Jan Fields. We’ve raised three sons. I’m a cockeyed introvert who enjoys blogging, reading, Jewish folk dancing and swimming. Dear Rochelle, I continue to have problems with my website and had to install a backup which meant I had to recreate my FF post. It is done and at the bottom #92 but I need #79 deleted as it is a broken link and I can’t delete it. The comment problem is still there and am waiting for the forum to help me. Thanx, so much. I finally got it fixed without the forum. I deactivated all of my plugins until I found the culprit that was causing the problem. 🙂

Go to this address https://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com/2015/12/02/4-december-2015/ which is my story page. Click on the blue frog under the photo prompt. After it takes you to the link page scroll to the bottom and click “Add your Link” and then follow the instructions. However, I clicked your link and didn’t see a Friday Fictioneers story. This is a prerequisite for linking your blog post. I tend to pull ones that aren’t about the specific prompt. I hope this makes sense.

I have a pice to contribute called The Mariners Tale. I don’t know why you can’t see it. I’ve never done this before. Am I meant to add a category called Friday Fiction ears story? I can do that and add the fiction to that…is that what I need to do?

It is meant to be a hundred word story, relating in some way to the photo prompt. That’s how the game is played. I post a new photo every Wednesday. The link is open until the following Tuesday.

Hi Rochelle, I hope this isn’t a bother, but I have a question that I think you might be able to answer. I’ve noticed some bloggers (e.g. you) mention they have an award free blog. I’m still a bit new to WordPress. What does having an award-free blog mean and what are the awards people receive? From what I can tell, the awards seem mostly superfluous, but I could be misunderstanding the purpose.
It feels strange to put this in a comment, but WordPress doesn’t seem to have a private messaging system without a plugin. Hope you are having a great day. 🙂

I’m sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to you.It would be nice if WP had a private messaging system, wouldn’t it? At any rate, if someone else reads this it’s okay.
As you can see by my margin on my page, I’ve participated in a few of these “blog awards.” While I’m flattered when someone “nominates” me, it’s a time suck and, in my opinion, not really an award. It usually requires copying and pasting and then answering a list of questions. In turn, it also requires nominating at least ten other people. So really kind of a blogging chain letter. So after doing a couple I decided to be award free.
I hope that makes sense and explains it for you.

To send a photo for a prompt, attach it in jpg form and email it to runtshell@gmail.com. Please make sure your name shows up either as a signature at the bottom or it or in the name of the jpg. Something like jennie.jpg. I’ve photos that I know were sent by FF’rs but I can’t remember who.

There isn’t a submission form per se. Each writer copies the photo prompt to his ir her blog and writes a 100 word story inspired by the photo. Next each of us links our URL to the inLinkz list.

I enjoyed listening to your “second interview” with Dr. Reeves. Love your mantra: “Growing older is inevitable; growing up is optional” 🙂 I can identify with painful experience leading to being a “better writer.” Something good to ponder. I had an idea – could FF occasionally have a little ‘Book Fair’? Maybe once a year invite people to share a link to their published books for sale? I thought it could be a nice way to encourage us all to support our favourite FF writers. And if you run it annually, maybe one day I’ll have one to share myself!
