History class was the bane of my high school existence. Anathema.
Who cared what happened fifty years ago?
Fast forward fifty years. Discuss Vietnam, the Kennedy assassination, or even adjusting the horizontal on a television with a millennial and watch her eyes glaze.
Now I understand what my teachers tried to say.

I like enjoyed where the prompt took you. For most people History isn’t an exciting subject. There are certain periods of History which are of great interest to me such as World War I and !!, the Papacy, British Monarchy and Roman Emperors. .Chemistry and Physics were my anathema.

The truth is that most of the history teachers made it as exciting as watching paint dry. Of course I’ve come to love history…maybe because I lived so much more of it at this point in my life. Chemistry? Science? Math? Forget about it. 😉 Thank you.

It’s funny. When I was studying history, it was such a bore because teachers focused so much on the dates. Today? I love all things historical…. something I know you can relate to!

I love History now but, as Dale stated, not dates. They were always on the tests and I couldn’t remember them. Fifty years ago was quite a time in our world. So much going on. Thanks for the great short tale. Speaking of short, you still are. Lol.

I loved your take on the prompt. You’re right some teachers focus too much on the dates and not enough on the events and intriguing stories. I too have come to love and appreciate History.

I had one social studies/history teacher in junior high who made learning exciting and a Spanish teacher in High School who would go off on tangents. He loved Mayan, Incan and Aztec history and made it fun to learn. Of course I never had to worry about dates in his class. I was there to learn Spanish, not history. 😀 thank you.

Love the way you compare yourself, bored to bits by history as a school student, with millennials now who aren’t interested. The photos are great – our history. Think I was lucky in school history as we did get some stories not just dates. Maths was my anathema !
