The following is admittedly a seven-year-old rerun. I’ve been extremely distracted of late and didn’t feel I could get away with another “my muse didn’t show up story.”…which she didn’t. 😉

Genre: Historical Fiction
Word Count: 100

FAMILY TREE

“‘And they lived happily ever after.’” Leah shut the storybook.

Shifra’s raisin-brown eyes, round as bottle caps, sparkled. “Bubbie? Did you love Grandpa at first sight?”

“He was only eight when we met. Mama took him in…hid him from the khappers, bad men who snatched little Jewish boys from their homes and made them serve twenty-five years in the Czar’s army.”

“Did she hide him in the closet?”

“No she was smart, my Mama.”

“He was like your brother, right?”

Leah pointed to a tintype on the table of two little bonneted girls and grinned. “More like my sister.

  • Hi Rochelle,

Lovely story with a sudden realisation at the end. I do enjoy those wise moments where the reader can deduce the background.

Good luck with your book. when i have more time I will view the e-book later this week.

    • Dear Dale.,
I might just take the ad down. Might be more trouble than it’s worth. Glad you still like this story. It’s actually one of my favorites. Hopefully next week my brain cells will converge and communicate with one another. 😉 Thank you.

      Shalom and lotsa appreciative hugs,

      Rochelle

  • Lovely story, Rochelle, and certain deserving of the rerun! I hope the muse finishes her vacation soon, but while she’s away, we can enjoy some old stories just as much.

The ‘reel’ works for me on here. I don’t do insta!

    • Dear Jen,

The internet and our computers are such capricious animals. What plays on one won’t play on another. Ah well. I need to make another reel of some sort. Advertising. 😉

Thank you re my story. Happily, my muse seems a bit more active at the moment.

      Shalom,

      Rochelle

    • Dear Lish,

Thank you for identifying yourself. It’s so frustrating not knowing who’s commenting. I don’t understand why this keeps happening to some. Thank you for your sweet comment as well.

  • The book trailer worked when I tapped on it. The words are intriguing. It opens up the question how does someone live with anorexia? What does this character go thru? Will there be a happy ending? Best Wishes on your launch!
