GORT! KLAATU BARADA NIKTO!

My brother has always had a vivid imagination and a penchant for fabricating tall tales. This time I thought he’d gone too far.

“Too many sci-fi comics, kiddo,” I said. “If extraterrestrials had arrived on this planet, it would be all over the news.”

“I saw their spaceship land. They’ve set up weapons of mass destruction.”

At his insistence, we hiked to the site where I expected to have the last laugh. But now both of my hearts stand still as I watch the two-legged creatures in shiny suits lumber about their craft.

“Perhaps they come in peace,” I whisper.

And just for fun:

  • What an enjoyable little story! Love the alien twist. I have a line in my novel, “Humans in a Cage” where the humans are corrected that they are the aliens on the planet they are now on. We humans make a lot of assumptions, don’t we?

  • Very good turn of events. I like how humans are the invaders. Did they come in peace? My experience says not for long, since they are a warrior arrogant species for ever at war, because of nothing more than emotional delusion.

  • Excellent story, dear Rochelle! You had me following right along and then BAM! Really caught me by surprise at the end!

Who doesn’t loves these old sci-fi movies? This one’s a classic; we’ve been watching movies like this after dinner during my recuperation. Great entertainment!

    Happy Rosh Hashanah! 🍏🍯
