GORT! KLAATU BARADA NIKTO!
My brother has always had a vivid imagination and a penchant for fabricating tall tales. This time I thought he’d gone too far.
“Too many sci-fi comics, kiddo,” I said. “If extraterrestrials had arrived on this planet, it would be all over the news.”
“I saw their spaceship land. They’ve set up weapons of mass destruction.”
At his insistence, we hiked to the site where I expected to have the last laugh. But now both of my hearts stand still as I watch the two-legged creatures in shiny suits lumber about their craft.
“Perhaps they come in peace,” I whisper.
And just for fun:

Fabulous! A great twist to this!

Haha, nice twist. I doubt they come in peace, I’m afraid. They don’t have a great history on that front.

Dear Jen,
Nope those two legged alients don’t have a great track record for peace, do they? Thank you.

What an enjoyable little story! Love the alien twist. I have a line in my novel, “Humans in a Cage” where the humans are corrected that they are the aliens on the planet they are now on. We humans make a lot of assumptions, don’t we?

You normally offer us stories of actual events and people, so I am assuming this is a true story and extraterrestrials such as us and them really do exist!

Very good turn of events. I like how humans are the invaders. Did they come in peace? My experience says not for long, since they are a warrior arrogant species for ever at war, because of nothing more than emotional delusion.

Dear James,
Hard to tell with humans whether or not they come in peace. Of course if it’s Captan Picard and his Number One, they must obey the Prime Directive. 😉 Thank you.

If these are Earthlings visiting this two-hearted people planet, I doubt they came in peace. I liked the twisty ending to this story.
Happy new year, Rochelle!

Who doesn’t loves these old sci-fi movies? This one’s a classic; we’ve been watching movies like this after dinner during my recuperation. Great entertainment!

Dear Nancy,
My brother and I have to watch at least one of those oldies when I visit him in NC. Thanks to Hurricane Debby this year had more TV time than usual. Here’s the trailer from this year’s sci fi “classic.” https://www.youtube.com/embed/hx64Ls4eOww

Oh, peace we really hope for.
(But if you continue with titles like that you’ll have the CIA knocking at your door. Or is it the FBI?)
Time for an oil change. Beep beep.
That’s enough motorcar references.
