A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. To join leave your link in Sammi’s comment section.
After forty-five years I miss your mercurial personality. Remember our lively battles of wits, Jerry—all those ornery barbs we lobbed back and forth? I wish you were still here so I could say them all over again.
*My husband’s brother, Jerry, died in a car accident when he was in the Air Force, stationed in Turkey in 1974. He was one of the funniest, sharpest people I have ever known.
I am so so sorry for the loss of him that you all experienced.
It is so difficult when the young die. So sudden when they die this way.
I’m glad you knew him, though.
XO

Na’ama Y’karah,
Sometimes I do feel cheated. But then we all were. Thank you for your kind words.

I can understand how you would feel that way — loss is call that for a reason. There is a longing for what could, that no amount of yearning can bring back. And that does not feel fair, even if we understand that it is just how it is.

You caught me in a moment on this one. Admittedly a tear appeared. He was very witty and left us at a young age with a very young son. Though his son, and now Grandson could not know, they mimic Jerry in so many ways. Well done M’luv.

I knew this one might get to you. For whatever reason it’s where the word took me. Jerry’s son and grandson are so much like him, aren’t they? Nature vs nurture? Thank you. ❤

That’s a fantastic story. Witty and detailed, but a sad history.

Dear KZ,
It is sad. I often wonder what Jerry would be like today in his 70’s. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Dear Dale,
This one really did take me by surprise. I’ve found that it’s best to go with my first impressions on these prompts. Thank you. (You would’ve liked Jerry and I think he would’ve liked you.) Thank you.
Shalom and lotsa hugs,
Rochelle

I think he would, too, Ted. He as a character.
