A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s comment section.
Some of you might know I’m a logophile…a word nerd. I have the old, no longer supported, Scrabble app on my phone and on my iPad. No bells or whistles. No connection to the internet. Just the way I like it. However I do miss the interaction of a rousing game with friends. So I give you a little wishful thinking.
GAME ON
“Z-A-N-Y” Rochelle arranged the tiles on the Scrabble board. “Ha! Thirty points to open the game.”
Dale flashed a smile. “Big deal.”
“Can you do better?”
To Rochelle’s chagrin, Dale played the Q, U and I off the Z for forty-four points on a double word.
Na’ama dumped her tiles back in the box. “I’ve a better idea. Let’s bake some bread.”

Dear Rochelle,
I so love this! Am giggling big time.
Is that bread I smell? Yummy!
Shalom and lotsa love with friends!

Dear Dale,
Like I said…wishful thinking. We do need to arrange that 3-way face to face soon, though. 😉 Glad you enjoyed the game. Thank you.
Shalom and lots of friendly hugs,
Rochelle

Yes, we do. Unfortunately, (or not!) until the end of October, that means we can meet only after 5, any day of the week! Which I am more than willing to do.

I think that could be arranged.

Yes! Let’s! And into October would work better for me, too. Bread might have to be virtual at first but … one day … (and I can invite ya both to a Zoom meeting so we can chat along and show silly things on the screen-share besides … :).

Sounds like fun. Looking forward to it. 😀

Dear CE,
At least with fresh bread everybody’s a winner. 😉

Very well done. I laughed out loud, and needed that this morning. I know your passion for scrabble and can see your face when Dale laid out her tiles. Personally, I’m with Na’ama and following her to the kitchen. I want to be first in line for the bread. Great story.

Dear Jan,
It’s been so long since I played Scrabble with another human I don’t know. 😉 Na’ama probably has the best compromise.

Yeah, good bread makes ANY scrabble better! 🙂

Dear Rochelle,
Who can say no to a rousing game of Scrabble and then fresh bread for consolation (or prize)? A fun read, my friend, and a happy trip down memory lane for me as well.

Dear Dora,
I’m so glad you came by to play. 😉 Some real butter spread on that hot-out-of the oven bread will be just the ticket. Thank you.

Bread only scores 8 but I bet it tastes more like 800!

Dear Keith,
It depends on where ‘bread’ lands on the board. After all the B is worth 3 points and the D worth 2. So if it lands on a triple word…at any rate, Yes on the taste. 😉

Rochelle

Absolutely so, although I prefer it when it lands on the breadboard piping hot!!!

MY bread scores a lot more than 8. Because it is No-knead-high-gluten-homebaked-exeptionally-yummy-crusty-bread. So there’s that. 😉

LOL! This was so much fun! I like that, and … yay to fresh bread (with nice butter and a delicious jam to those who like those – which I do) to making anything better. Even scrabble! 😉
Love this! And… yeah to finding time for a virtual-meet-up ahead of (hopefully soon) an ACTUAL meet up (that is, when Canada decides to lower the wall with the US … which I don’t blame them for having raised … ;)) .
xoxo
And … Gmar Chatima Tova, Rochelle!

Todah, Na’ama. An easy fast to you. And as my family used to say “Gut Yontif.”
