A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.
Once more the word sent me down Memory Lane. 😉
MATHEMATICAL STATEMENT
My mind often wandered to fantasy worlds while my languid eyelids drooped during Science or Math classes.
However, my ninth-grade Algebra teacher, Mrs. Bredehoft, with her southern charm did her best to make her classes interesting.
No one could top her when she burst through the door with, “Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! We’re having a pop quiz today!”
*You just can’t make some things up.*
A teacher with verve and enthusiasm

I guess we all had classes that made us feel that way, m’lady, and teachers too!

Dear CE,
I had a couple of teachers I will probably never write about, but they could’ve been marketed as the world’s perfect sedative. 😉

Dear Rochelle,
We all have that one teacher (well, most of us do) that left their mark on us. When we’re lucky, we have more than one.
Lovely take!
Shalom and Lotsa love,

Dear Dale,
As you know from many of the stories I’ve written about my teachers I was one of those blessed kids. 😉 I had some terrific ones…and some not to much. Glad you enjoyed my take. Mrs. Bredehoft was a classic.
Shalom and lotsa hugs,
Rochelle

You got me thinking back to my schooldays and yes, I did have a teacher like that. ‘Chunky’ Martin, religious education. Nice one Rochelle.

Dear Keith ,
We should all have such wonderfully quirky and caring teachers. I’m afraid that Mrs. Bredehoft never instilled a great love for Algebra in this unruly student but she certainly left her mark. Thank you.

That sounds like an amazing teacher. This would have ensured that you all put in a little more effort in knowing Maths. Thank you for sharing.😊

Dear Ade,
I’m not sure she succeeded with me and Maths. But her winning personality left a sweet footprint in my memory. Thank you.

I love this story. It evokes memories of English for me. When it came to diagramming, etc., my eyes slowly drooped as if a limit switch was activated. Good job Lady wordsmith.

Dear Jan,
Wordsmith or not, I couldn’t diagram a sentence to save my life. 😉 I had that same limit switch in my junior biology class. Thank you, m’luv.

That’s why I still think electricity is a miracle! I was somewhere else in my mind during the science classes! Thank you for calling up the memory of that and of the teachers who ‘got through’ my dreaming haze.

Dear Jenne,
Science and I were never good friends. 😉 I did get nice naps in those classes. 😉 Seems we had the same approach. Than you.

Well, she kept you awake, didn’t she? First step of learning is to be awake for it … 😉

Na’ama Y’karah,
She did her best to keep me awake. Once she found a note I’d passed to someone saying I couldn’t wait for this boring class to be over. Mrs. B left the note on my desk with her own note saying, see me after class to talk about what we can do about this. My own doodles on the note ratted me out. As I recall she was sensitive to the fact that I wasn’t getting it in Algebra and went the extra mile to help me. Being awake did help. 😉
