Weekend Writing Prompt – Languid

Published December 20, 2020 by rochellewisoff

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.

Once more the word sent me down Memory Lane. 😉

MATHEMATICAL STATEMENT

My mind often wandered to fantasy worlds while my languid eyelids drooped during Science or Math classes.

However, my ninth-grade Algebra teacher, Mrs. Bredehoft, with her southern charm did her best to make her classes interesting.

No one could top her when she burst through the door with, “Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! We’re having a pop quiz today!”

*You just can’t make some things up.*

    • Dear Dale,

As you know from many of the stories I’ve written about my teachers I was one of those blessed kids. 😉 I had some terrific ones…and some not to much. Glad you enjoyed my take. Mrs. Bredehoft was a classic.

      Shalom and lotsa hugs,

      Rochelle

  • That’s why I still think electricity is a miracle! I was somewhere else in my mind during the science classes! Thank you for calling up the memory of that and of the teachers who ‘got through’ my dreaming haze.

    • Na’ama Y’karah,

She did her best to keep me awake. Once she found a note I’d passed to someone saying I couldn’t wait for this boring class to be over. Mrs. B left the note on my desk with her own note saying, see me after class to talk about what we can do about this. My own doodles on the note ratted me out. As I recall she was sensitive to the fact that I wasn’t getting it in Algebra and went the extra mile to help me. Being awake did help. 😉

      Shalom,

      Rochelle
