Weekend Writing Prompt – Orbit

Published March 21, 2021 by rochellewisoff

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.

This prompt didn’t send me into orbit exactly. 😉 Nor does my story defy gravity. Apologies to my favorite Canuck.

“Orbitz.” Dale grimaced.  “The beverage with balls. WTF. You paid $20.00 on Ebay?”

“Retro novelty.” Rochelle took a sip and gagged. “I guess not everything Canadian is as wonderful as peanut butter and Captain Kirk. No wonder this dreck didn’t last a year.”

“It’s dead, Jim. Have a Merlot.”

    • Dear Larry,

I didn’t know either until I Googled. I was always under the impression it was as American as apple pie and that George Washington Carver was responsible. Hence it was the subject of my FF story. 😉 But you already know that. Ah the things we still have to learn. Thank you.

    • Dear Susan,

Dale’s the Canadian. Not I. 😉 He is one of the nicest things to come out of Canada…along with Lorne Green, Donald Sutherland…and the list goes on. Glad you enjoyed and took the time to say so. 😀

  • Agreed. Snow could get very old very fast. I’d rather live in a warmer climate myself. Although Missouri isn’t all that much better. And my son who lives in Upstate NY says the snow’s worst up there. No thanks. No place is perfect, is it? Thankyou. 😉
