Prompt Description: Two red Adirondak chairs are side by side on the bank of a river. There’s a person in one of the chairs. There’s a tree and green grass in front of the chairs. It looks like there’s a small island on the other side of the river.

Rochelle stretched her legs and gazed at the waves. How could she have missed it?

“It could’ve happened to anyone,” said Dale. “Cut yourself some slack.”

“I guess.” Rochelle sighed. “Nancy nailed me on it. I really didn’t remember using that photo, did you?”

“It looked kind-a familiar. And wouldn’t you know it? I wrote a similar story to what I wrote for it three years ago.”

Rochelle stood and waded into the chilly lake. “Can you believe I’ve been doing this crazy blog challenge every week for the last fourteen years?”

Dale raised her wine glass. “Viva Friday Fictioneers!”

  • So much has happened in those 14 years, but you’ve owned this challenge and we the people are very grateful! As for the accidental repeats, those are 100% forgiven, encouraged even. It’s nice to look back and find old gems.

    • Dear Jen,

You were a Friday Fictioneer before I joined as one of the gang. I’ve always been grateful to you and a few others who welcomed and supported me. Many, many thanks!

      Shalom,

  • And so you have, and done it well! I didn’t realize 14 years had passed since you took over stirring the kettle of toughts every week. I sure enjoy participating when I can. This photo has things swirling in my medicated brain. I hope something creeps out of the vapor.

    Thanks for what you do.

    • Dear Dale,

Actually my facillitator anniversary is in October. 😉 But it always bears repeating as the time keeps flying by and Friday Fictioneers continues. I’m incredulous that it does. I’ve seen writers come and go and come back again. Lotsa memories and good friends. Again. I’m so glad you’re a part of it.

      Shalom and lotsa hugs,

      Rochelle

    • Dear Fleur

I’m so happy to have you aboard. One of the things that drew me in to Friday Fictioneers was the global community. I love learning the little daily differences in our experiences yet realizing how alike we all are. So who knows what the next 14 years will bring. Thank you.

      Shalom,

      Rochelle

  • Shame on you, m’lady! Fourteen years, over 700 prompts, and you missed that you’d already used one. Pah!

I guess I’ve done a few hundred myself over the years, but couldn’t contribute this week due to… Well, just life, really.

This prompt made me think of the Columbia River in Washington State. Fond memories.

    Bon courage, keep going strong.

    • Dear C.E.

As I always say, “Pobody’s nerfect.” There was one morning I failed to post a photo at all. A couple of clever writers wrote about the lack of a prompt. Thank you for your words of encouragement.

      Shalom,

      Rochelle

  • Congrats to you, Rochelle! Some marriages don’t last 14 years!

Love the way you added me and Dale into your story; I feel immortalized!

Another wonderful read and here’s to 14 more years of Friday Fictioneers!

    Shalom & love 🕊️
