STUDIO A
Almost a year ago my publisher, Lia, asked if I’d be interested in recording an audio version of my most recent novel LAST DANCE WITH ANNIE. I was excited at the prospect.
I would read the female parts and Lia’s partner Jadyn would voice the male characters.
At the last minute the studio availability fell through. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.
Lia came up with a workable solution that included her dad, a talented Chinese chef feeding us.
Nope, this isn’t fiction. We’re twenty-two chapters in.
Watch for my audio book to be available in 2027.

It takes me several goes to record my 100 word story each week. To read an entire novel out loud – no way!

I had the same misgivings when we started. The beauty of this is that if we miff a line we go back and record. Then Lia will send the files to someone who can edit and put it all together. That took a whole lot of pressure off. It is still a little daunting to do an entire novel.
Keep doing what you’re doing. I love to hear you read.

How lovely to see you back in Purpleville.
It is kind of daunting to read the book, particularly the parts that are based on fact. It’s helps to have a supportive team and another reader to do the male voices.
Being able to start and stop helped ease any tension. Also stopping to process the emotions helped.
We go back the end of August to record more.
The food was definitely a perk. No one went hungry. Mr. Wu saw to it. We came home with four to-go boxes.

Being half New York Jew, Chinese is among my favorite foods. When we were first married I worked for a lovely Chinese family in their restaurant. I never tired of the food. Not to mention, I’m pretty handy with a wok. So Mr. Wu’s contribution to our recording session was very welcome indeed. Definitely win-win. Thank you.
