This week’s prompt takes us into a narrow kitchen. on the right we see cabinets and a stove. There’s a refrigerator at the end. On the hardwood floor there’s an oval rug. To the left it looks to be a long bookcase filled with books. At the very end, in the middle there’s a wall with decorations and a door with a lock.

MOUNT EVEREST SPECIAL
“How’s the novel coming?” Louise peered over Thelma’s shoulder.
“Not so great.” Thelma’s empty stomach rumbled. She stood and stretched to ease the kink in her neck. “I need sustenance.”
“How about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?”
“Nah. The only excuse for jelly we have is your aunt’s poisonberry jam.”
“Hey, that’s not a very nice thing to call it.”
“Okay. Kerosene preserves then.” Thelma sliced an onion. Breathing in the pungent aroma she proclaimed, “Now that’s what goes on a peanut butter sandwich.”
“Ugh!” Louise wrinkled her nose. “You can’t possibly be serious.”
“It worked for Ernest Hemingway.”

Incidentally, I had to try it out for myself. Peanut butter and onions makes a tasty combo. 😉

Well, I haven’t tried a peanut butter sandwich with onions yet, but that sounds tasty. 😉

Dear Aptivi,
It’s not a combination I would’ve come up with. I do like peanut butter and green olives. So why not onions. 😉 I like it

Peanut butter and green olives sound delicious too, Rochelle. I like green olives, but I love black olives more. 😉

Dear Rochelle,
I have to say this is the first time I have ever heard of such a combo but really, when you think of it… I shall have to try this damn thing!!
Shalom and lotsa doubtful love,

Dear Dale,
Well, Ya-know…I’d never heard of the combo either. I started out delving into the history of peanut butter and jelly and somehow came to this. Of course I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised. You’ll have to tell me what you think.
Shalom and lotsa adventurous hugs,
Rochelle

But, but, but… You can’t even do onions!

We-elll, that’s a whole nuther story. I’ve found some good enzyme supplements and have broken myself out of garlic and onion prison. My tummy’s no worse for wear and my taste buds are happier.

I am most happy for you, my friend! I love onions and garlic – they don’t love me (when they are raw). I eat ’em anyway!

What an odd combination. I think I’ll leave it for you and not sample it. I can still smell it from when you walked by this morning.

Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches have been an American staple of more than a century. Give it a try. 😀

understood. what i really meant was peanut butter and jelly with garlic.

I’m not sure how that would work with garlic. Although I have eaten peanut butter and jelly with raspberry-jalapeño jelly. It’s pretty good.

I think I would take my chances with poisonberry jam before PBO!

How interesting I never knew that about Hemingway! I might give it a go it sounds much better than with jam – which I know seems to be a favourite with you over there 😄

I read “The Old Man and the Sea”. But I have forgotten most of it.
Earlier people used to read same books over and over and used to memorize the passages they liked. But that habit is gone now. Nobody does that anymore.
Thanks for bringing up E. Hemingway. Have a good day. 🙂

Two of my favorites: Hemingway and food! The success of the Mount Everest would depend on the type of onion used. I once had a peanut butter and dried seaweed (nori) combination at a tea house. It was pretty good.
