Welcome to another week of SUMMER RERUNS. This week the story and prompt are from 14 November 2014. If you were with us that week, feel free to take a break and post your own rerun. ๐Ÿ˜€ย

Genre: Historical Fiction

Word Count: 100

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย โ€œCanโ€™t you imagine little Harry trying to climb the fig trees?โ€ Idaโ€™s eyes glittered. โ€œHe wouldโ€™ve been three this year.โ€

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  โ€œI miss him, too,โ€ Harvey whispered.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Although his heart ached with loss, Harvey still counted his blessings. What could such a vibrant woman possibly see in him, a wheelchair bound invalid thirty years her senior?

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  โ€œMaybe weโ€™ll have another son. For now we have one hundred twenty acres of prime, undeveloped California land to subdivide.โ€ He brushed a tear from her cheek with a kiss. โ€œWhat shall we call our little town? Harryville?โ€

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  โ€œDonโ€™t be ridiculous. Letโ€™s call it Hollywood.โ€

the way things come about. Hope you’re having a grand time con su familia.

  • Dear Old Suzanna Danna Anna W(T)F,

Nothing like going to California with a laptop on your knee, is there? Hollywood would have dried up and blown away had it not been for Connie and I going out there to save it a few years back. I’m sure you read about our “Saving Hollywood” adventure in my seldom perused book, “One Idiot Short of a Village.” Why that story is not on wikipedia is a mystery to me.

Sometimes history just gets mixed up

    • Dear Dyslexia Man,

I will have to revisit that story. ๐Ÿ˜‰ History isn’t always reliable is it? And when we don’t like it, we just whitewash it. Just sayin’
