A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section.
Black ink was once my preferred medium.
Friends claimed it ran through my veins.
These days intuitive watercolor
Has taken ink’s place.
And both are fab! 🙂

The monochrome picture is gorgeous! For me, it was photography that switched to colour.

Dear Keith,
I used to do a lot of pen and ink until the past five years or so. Now I don’t want to do anything else but watercolor. Thank you.

Have you used ink and watercolour on the same piece Rochelle?

When you started watercolor media again you went “prolific”. And what a library of beartwork you have amassed. Now……we need a studio. Good job.

Dear Jan,
Not just a studio, but a gallery as well. Not to mention a wealthy benefactor and a professional matt cutter. I don’t want much. Thank you, m’luv. ❤

Dear Rochelle,
I love both of your drawings. Interesting that watercolors have become more intuitive for you, even as black ink once “ran through my veins”! I love the idea of a creative communication going on with the medium.

Dear Dora,
There is kind of a communication. It might be significant that, for years, I used a medium that was tight and detailed. Now in my latter years I’ve found freedom in letting the watercolor have its way. Something you can’t really do with a fine ink pen. Thank you.

I’m not an artist but I think I understand. Perhaps that’s how impressionism was born.

Dear Rochelle,
I love that you continue to explore with your art. Artists are not locked in with just one medium – though if they choose to stay with one, there’s nothing wrong with that, either!
Shalom and lotsa creative love,
Dale

Dear Dale,
There’s so much more freedom in watercolor than pen and ink, which is not to say I’ll never do another pen and ink. 😉 There are so many mediums to explore. Thank you for the encouragement. Not to mention the many many glorious photos you’ve posted and I’ve pilfered.
Shalom and lotsa artistic hugs,
Rochelle

Hey Rochelle,
Well said.
“Intuitive watercolor?” I will have to look that up.
My daughter says that watercolor is metaphor for letting go. There must be poem in that. 🙂
Peace, Bill

Dear Bill,
Your daughter is 100% correct. It is definitely a medium that requires letting go. Another artist friend said, “If you wrestle with watercolor, the watercolor will always win.” I’m sure if there’s a poem you can find it. 😉
Thank you and shalom,
Rochelle
