PARADISE FOUND
Quintessential party planner Carla missed human contact. Zoom calls didn’t offer quite the same energy. Her California home had become a ghost town.
Searching for something to fill the empty hours of lockdown, she found quilting.
Before she knew it, what began as a hobby turned into a blazing passion. Her family and friends benefitted from her newfound obsession.
Two years later, she realized her dream of visiting Hamilton Missouri, famous home of Missouri Star Quilting Company. Row after row of colorful prints delighted her. Now she could complete her UFO’s—unfinished objects.
She raised her hands. “I’m in heaven!”

Everyone should have a secret passion. It makes for a rounded story

Wow! That certainly is impressive and such beautiful quilts! I did a little quilting years ago; it was relaxing and the few items I made look nice but other things took precedence.
Nice homage to a quilters delight!

We have definitely benefited from Carla’s quilting. She sure became an expert in a hurry. But, she is an overachiever and does phenomenal work. Looks like the girls have an annual quilting trip started as this is the 2nd year now..

The trip was fun and I enjoyed the company. Can’t say I got too worked up over quilting. 😉 Carla’s work will forever be displayed proudly in our house. 😀

I wish there were a “love” option on this prompt! I love quilting! We live near Lancaster County, PA, which has wonderful fabric shops and an amazing quilt museum. Amish women in the area make exquisite quilts, and you can often see them pegged to clotheslines, I’m especially intrigued by the stories behind some famous quilt patterns. I can easily lose myself in reading all about it 🙂

Such a heartwarming story and the fact that you and Jan are blessed to get a quilt made by Carla is the icing on the cake. Lots of cool photos. One of my friends’ wives is heavily into quilting and probably knows about Hamilton. I’ll ask her.

That quilt is beautiful, she’s clearly very talented. Hearing off people finding lockdown passion projects used to make me cry at the time. Now, with a little more freedom and distance, I can appreciate their handiwork and the labour that went into it.

I tried my hand at quilting several years ago and somehow I managed to accumulate quite a bit of “stash” material. I really need to find someone to give it to. My friends who got me into quilting all live over 600 miles away or I would just take it to their house. Alas, I need to find someone local who can appreciate what I have an send it on it’s way. One more thing out of my attic… sigh

These are fab! I have a friend who quilts, and she swears that it sustained her and saved her life (psychically, at least) in times of strife. Meditative, she says. I can see how, given that I have found quietude in knitting and embroidery and crocheting and sewing over the years. It’s delicious. 🙂 Great photo! I wanna go to that store now!

Na’ama Y’kara,
I used to do a lot of embroidery. Knitting? Fuhgeddaboudit. For those who quilt I’m sure it’s relaxing and meditative. For me it would be aggravating and stress-making. I’ll take painting and swimming.
Thank you for stopping by. Nu? Can I get you a bagel. Maybe a shmear?

This is fun, the quilt is lovely and happy belated Anniversary! Glad you got to go with friends. I went solo on the return home from Ohio to see my vintage Auntie. I had a blast, but it would have been nicer to have a friend(s) to share it with. I saw something that made me feel the urge to write… is it to late to add my little 100 word story? ❤
