Through several comments I’ve learned that I’m not the only one in the Friday Fictioneers group who has problems with the block editor. Since that one is the future and Classic won’t likely be functional by next year, I’ve collected a few easy tips and tricks how I made my peace with the block editor. Mind you, I still struggle with some of the features. It is not intuitive and really needs getting used to. I am getting better but it still does things I don’t want it to do. Luckily, there is the undo arrow button.
What is most confusing to me is the fact that you never see all the options in one place, the menus constantly change depending on the type of edit you want to do: post, block, text, image, grid etc.. But it is all there. Somewhere…

Adolescent Arthur Fellig rented a pony and took pictures of neighborhood kids with his secondhand View Camera.
“I wipe their faces and give ‘em a ride.” He winked. “Then sell their folks the photos.”
Years later, armed with a police-band radio, Speed Graphic camera and a makeshift darkroom in his trunk, he lurked in the shadows of New York. His black and whites captured the city’s seamier side like no others.
“You’re always on time.” Amazed reporters shook their heads. “You must have a Ouija board or something. What’s your secret?”
“Ain’t no secret.” Weegee shrugged. “F/8 and be there.”

Recently, after a couple of Zoom conversations with my friend, Kathleen Rodgers, I thought it might be fun to record conversations with author friends about their thoughts on writing and their recent work or novels. (SEE OUR “CHAT” BELOW!)
After weeks of thinking about it and trying to find a good time, I finally jumped in and interviewed Kathy about her latest novel, The Flying Cutterbucks.
The conversation was intended to be just that–a conversation, and not an overly formatted interview. This made it both exciting and scary. Though I did have a couple of questions in mind to ask, Kathy didn’t have a heads up about what I would be asking. I think you’ll see in the video, it really was spontaneous–especially by the fact I didn’t even have a title for the “episode” yet. But we had fun, and hopefully, viewers will learn a little bit…
Yes. It’s me again. Double dipping. It seems my first story is only understood by a few. So I decided, by divine right of flash fiction queens, I’d write another. Thank you for understanding. 😉
AUTUMN HOUSE CLEANING
“I’m not a hoarder. I’m sentimental, that’s all.”
True to her words, Carolyn kept a clean, albeit, cluttered house.
“You could eat off my floors.”
“If we could find it.” Megan rolled her eyes as she rummaged through her mother’s kitchen cabinets. “Maybe. But baby bottles? What do you need with these?”
“Mama?” The towheaded toddler in the high chair reached out his arms and whimpered. “Ba-Ba”
Carolyn patted his hand. “Aaron. You’re too big for a bottle. Megan get your baby brother his sippy cup.”
“Mom. Stop!” Megan’s tearful voice startled Carolyn. “Aaron died fifty years ago.”

LONGEVITY
“He’s too wild. She’s only 18 and he’s 25. I give it six months.” My mother told her friends. To me she repeated, “If things don’t work out you still have a bed here.”
The day I announced my first pregnancy her invitations changed to, “You made your bed, now you can lie in it.”
48 years, three sons and two granddaughters later, I still wake up in my bed next to my wild man.

GRAMMAR POLICE B.O.L.O.
“Joe and me had a great time today in the park.”
“Mary laughed at Joe and I.”
What’s wrong with this picture?
Let’s tinker a bit with those two sentences and see what happens when we eliminate “Joe and” from the equation.
“Me had a great time today at the park.”
“Mary laughed at I.”
Truly, I’m not trying to be obnoxious, but it is something for you and me to consider, don’t you think?
In the spirit of Christmas and the Advent Calendar that has been revamped and re-purposed in myriad ways, I have decided to do one of another sort. Instead of taking one chocolate per day (or wine or whatever goodie is in vogue) or adding one item into a box to donate for a good cause (a very good thing, indeed) I have chosen to send a little love to my favourite blogs.
Now, this is a difficult thing to do as I am only technically allowed to have 24 entries. However. My blog, my choice. There are 31 days in the month of December so, if I feel like it, I can send love to 31 blogs. Or more. I shall see.
I have pondered and thought and come up with a list. It might change as I move forward and remember that I forgot ones that I love because…
